One Flora Group to collaborate with Optiboost

12 January 2023
One Flora Group has struck up a partnership with Swedish company OptiBoost. OptiBoost developed a unique machine which uses nanotechnology and vacuum infusion to impregnate cut flowers with valuable nutrients. This treatment improves the life of flowers and makes them stronger. Besides less waste, it also creates new, more sustainable possibilities for storage and transportation.

This year, One Flora Group is planning to install its own OptiBoost system for carrying out commercial tests with a number of affiliated horticultural companies. At the premises of Bloominess, OptiBoost will open a test centre for carrying out tests on the vase life of flowers.

Sven Aertssen, Managing Director Flowers from One Flora Group, says: “We believe strongly in collaboration and growing together. The ambition of One Flora Group is to take horticulture to the next level. We are confident that collaboration with OptiBoost is a step in the right direction. We look forward to exploring ways of improving the quality and sustainability of cut flowers together. This new technology could be particularly interesting for both our retailers and our growers.

GREAT POTENTIAL

“We see great potential in the collaboration with One Flora Group,” says Thomas Lundqvist, CEO of OptiBoost. “We share the same views on sustainability and technological developments. The OptiBoost system improves sustainability and ensures better quality flowers which consumers will be willing to pay more for. By opening a test centre in Aalsmeer – the centre of the European flower trade – we are also taking an important strategic step within the industry.”
